The Art of Construction
I was enthralled by the images of Lewis Hine, Eugene Smith, and Margaret Burke-White as a young photographer so was delighted to be given the opportunity to photograph two very different and extraordinary redevelopment projects in Los Angeles. There is so much more that goes into construction in an earthquake zone than I had ever imagined, I will never walk through a building again without seeing the work it took to assemble it. Here are some glimpses from my immersion into all the aspects of structural engineering and hard work that it takes to create the safe spaces we take for granted.
